Ton Duc Thang University organized activities to celebrate the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day 2023
On November 18, 2023, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized activities to celebrate the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2023).
The commemorative program at TDTU was attended by Mr. Tong Van Bang - Head of the Organizing Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Member of the University Council; Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung - Head of the Finance Committee of VGCL, Member of the University Council; Mrs. Hoang Thi Khanh - Chairwoman of the University’s Founding Council; Prof. Cao Minh Thi - Member of the University’s Founding Council; Dr. Pham Hong Ky - Member of the University’s Founding Council; Dr. Dang Ngoc Tung - Former Party Central Committee Member, Former Chairman of VGCL, Member of the University Council; Mr. Nguyen Huy Can - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promoting Education, Member of the University Council; and representatives from various organizations, units, universities, and amicable enterprises.
On behalf of TDTU, the were Dr. Vu Anh Duc - Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Tran Trong Dao – the University President; the leadership team; lecturers and staff; students; and alumni.
In appreciation of this meaningful event, the University expressed gratitude and honored teachers who have been with Ton Duc Thang University for 25, 20, 15, and 10 years. These teachers have accompanied and made significant contributions to the university since its establishment.
In November, the University also organized activities such as visiting and giving gifts to retired lecturers and staff. The Youth Union organized the Wall Newspaper design contest with the theme “Gratitude to Teachers” and a week to complete a mural with the theme “Thousand Words of Gratitude”. The Communications & Public Relations Department, the Department of Student Affairs, and the Youth Union produced and released a video titled “TDTU Students with a Culture of Politeness”. The program “Return to the Old School” was organized by the Center of Cooperation Enterprise and Alumni in collaboration with the other faculties. The departments and units organized contests for designing greeting cards and flower arrangement to honor teachers. Also, the Trade Union organized the Lecturer and Staff Sports Festival and the contest “Energetic Class”.
At the celebration program, marking the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, Dr. Tran Trong Dao, the University President, delivered a congratulatory speech and expressed gratitude to the teachers through many generations who have been dedicated to building and developing the university: “The dedication of esteemed teachers to Ton Duc Thang University over the years is a process of devotion. There were difficulties, challenges, and obstacles that seemed insurmountable, but we overcame them. Generations of lecturers and staff at Ton Duc Thang University have been and will continue to be shining models for students to follow and strive to overcome challenges and achieve success, enabling the university to develop rapidly and sustainably.” He also reminded the lecturers and staff: “Through each journey, we all feel more honored and prouder of the tradition of the education sector in general and the tradition of the University in particular. The more honored and prouder we are, the more we must be aware of the great responsibility that society has entrusted to the education sector, and to each of us”.
The series of activities to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers’ Day provided an opportunity for the University to acknowledge the contributions of lecturers and staff to the achievements of the institution. It also encouraged educators to take pride in their profession, be aware of the honor and responsibility of being teachers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the University’s education quality.
